JULY 2011
The Canadian National was so much fun with so many accomplishments from dogs that go back to Sunbeam that it will be getting its own page on this website and you can access that here. In the interim, you can see how we did in the fun department (who ever let a little rain
slow them down) and how we did in the ribbon department.
Mia, SH
R Limelite's Color Me Beautiful CGC, RN, WC (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Goldtales Drive in the Limelite JH RA) is now also a Senior Hunter with her last two legs earned under the direction of owner, Claudia Shaw. Enormous amount of work, we are all very proud of Mia and Claudia.
JUNE 2011
Absolutely amanzing and exciting and perfect. BISS Ch. Sunbeam's Double Gum SDHF (Ch. Sunbeam's Worth The Wait OS SDHF x Ch. Laurell Sunbeam Pink Panther OD SDHF) won the Golden Retriever Club of Hawaii Specialty from the Veterans class at 11 + years of age.
Anyone who has ever met Wriggley knows what an amazing personality she is as well as being an absolutely outstanding Golden Retriever and Show Dog. She has several Specialty wins but this certainly has to be the most exciting.
Charlotte and I are so lucky to have such an amazing dog.
MAY 2011
In the middle of May we did our one and only dog show week-end. Cathie has been busy working on legislation in
Sacramento so dog shows have been limited.
It would be an understatement to say we had a good day at the Specialty. Harley (Sunbeam's Cowas
aki - Can/Am. GCh. Sunbeam's Your Cheatin' Heart SDHF x Sunbeam's NY Steight of Mind) won the 6-9 Sweepstakes Class and his brother Tucker - Sunbeam Last of the Singing Cowboys was 4th. (Sadly, brother number three Sunbeam's Cow Cow Boogie was not feeling well and could not play. In the regular classes the boys were 2nd and 3rd respectively. Chuck - Castlerock Come Together (BISS Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Justmoor There's Something About Mary) won his 12-18 Class in both Sweeps and Regular Classes. Calico's Promising Joy (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Ch. Calico's Power of Love) won her 9-12 Class in Sweeps. Promise went on to be Best in Sweeps while Chuck was Best
Opposite in Sweeps.
In the regular classes, Decoy (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Kahlua's Gift From Heaven) was 3rd in a large class of Open dogs.
In the Best of Breed competition, the Specialty was won by Player, Can/Am.GCh. Sunbeam's Your Cheatin' Heart (BISS Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Sunbeam's Wall Street Victory) who now gets to put a BISS in front of his name just like his sire Hank, his grandsire Hawthorne, his great grand sire Cruiser and great, great grandsire Blue. We are so proud of those boys. Sarah, GCh Sunbeam's Love Me Tender (Ch. BISS Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime) was Select Bitch.
APRIL 2011
The only dog to attend dog shows this Spring has been Player, Can/Am. GCh. Sunbeam's Your Cheatin' Heart (BISS Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Sunbeam's Wall Street Victory) who has been doing so much winning that I have lost track. He had a very successful circuit in Arizona. Tiffany Saxon has done a wonderful job with him. Player is owned by Tom and Marla English.

The Los Angeles Golden Specialty was the last two days in April and Deb and Alan Hubbard, Frank Pampiks and Charlotte Farmer all came out. We'll never know if the draw was the Sunday wine tasting, the fun we have or the dog show itself.
Allan Cooper, our dog songwriter in residence (Westwood Goldens) introduced two new songs. 'Another Saturday Night' and 'Please Unleash Me'. I think the words to Saturday Night (which is sung to the tune of the Sam Cooke song recorded by everyone) best describe our week-end.
Another Saturday night and we're down at the dog show.
We'red rinking wine and margaritas too.
Ribbons galore but no points to speak of
What are we gonna do.
The Player puppies did very well considering this was their very first show. Sadly our new Verdoro puppy was ill and spent the Specialty week-end in the vet hospital but is on the mend now.
March 2011
The beginning of March found Cathie and Debbie Ramsey in Scottsdale for five days of shows. At the Golden Retriever Specialty Chuck (Castlerock Come Together) won his Sweeps Class and Regular Class and went on to be Reserve Winners Dog. Harriet (Sunbeam's Let's Get This Party Started) was second in her large sweepstakes and even larger regular class. GCh. Sunbeam's Love Me Tender (Sarah) was Select Bitch and Player - GCh. Sunbeam's Your Cheatin' Heart SDHF received a Judges Award of Merit. All in all, not a bad day.
On Saturday Sarah and Player were Select Bitch and Dog respectively. Sarah was Best Opposite on Friday, Select on Sunday and Best of Breed on Monday.
And adding to the excitement, Mia - Woodland's It's All About Me (Ch. Quailwood's Sound of Music x ) was Winners Bitch on Saturday. Mia is owned by Sharon Shilkoff.
February 2011
February is New York month so Cathie and Debbie and Dave Ramsey were off for the Golden Specialties and the Westminster Dog Show. It's always a crazyand fun time but this year was incredibly special. Hank, Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Can. Ch. Goldenbear's Go-Wing Wild at Sunbeam) bred by Cathie Turner and Caroline McCormick was entered in the 10 and older Veterans Class which he won, against wonderful competition. Joe Millionaire was there and also looked great. Then Hank went on to go Best of Breed from the 10 and over Veteran Class. Very exciting.
It was a great day for many reasons. I was there to see it. Many of the dogs who flew in to compete at the Garden were there. Hank looked great. Groomed to perfection by Audra Snyder. Shown in Veterans by Greg Wessel. Handled to the Breed win by Michael Mentasi. Kept in fabulos condition by Ann Johnson. What a day!
At the end of the month, Player became Grand Champion Sunbeam's Your Cheatin Heart SDHF when he was Best Opposite at the Silver Bay Kennel Club Show in Del Mar.
January 2011
January was a quiet month. Things got excitng at the Winterfest Cluster. Player, Ch. Sunbeam's Your Cheatin' Heart SDHF (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Sunbeam's Wall Street Victory) was Select Dog two of the four days. On Saturday Decoy - Kahlua Field of Dreams (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Kahlua's Gift From Heaven) was WD and BW for a major. The same day Harriet (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Karizma Sunbeam Can't Buy Me Mauve) was Best Puppy and got a Puppy Group 3.
December 2010
December was a quiet month. Mac (Calico's Mac tothe Future - Ch. Sunbeam's Worth The Wait x Ch. Calico's The Power of Love) made his debut in the Bred By Exhibitor Class at the Shoreline shows in December and won 2 of the 3 days. Chuck was shown in the same shows by Debbie Ramsey and also won his class two days.
The rest of the month was taken up with family time and Christmas festivities.
november 2010
Puppies! This is the month for Liza and Player's puppies to go home. You can see everything about the litter here.
Sarah (Ch. Sunbeam's Love Me Tender - Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime) started her Specials career with Clint Livingston. While it's a tough time to start, with the other competitors already ranked and advertised, we are pleased to report that she has already won a Best of Breed.
One of the Player puppies ready for Thanksgiving.
OCTOBER 2010
The Pleasanton shows brought some great news for Sunbeam. Sarah is now Ch. Sunbeam's Love Me Tender (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime) with a finish under Labrador judge Susan Sasser - a win earned in the pouring rain.
At the Friday show Jax - Sunbeam Kahlua
Nobody's Fool (Ch. Venture Redog Triple x Sunbeam's Pod'N Me Boys) made his debut in the 6 - 9 puppy class and won his class. The following day he won his regular class and his Sweepstakes class. Jax is owned by Karen Ribbens, Cathie Turner and Tiffany and Shawna Brooks.
Harriet - Sunbeam's Let's Get This Party Started (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Karizma Sunbeam Can't Buy Me Mauve) - won her 6 - 9 puppy class on Sunday and was second in Sweeps on Saturday at the Special and second on Monday. Harriet is owned by Diane and Dale Waller and Cathie Turner.
Chuck - Castlerock Come Together (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Ch. Justmoor There's Something About Mary) won the 6 - 9 puppy class on Monday (David and Debbie Ramsey and Cathie Turner).
Dec
oy - Kahlua Field of Dreams (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Kahlua's Gift From Heaven) won the 12-18 class 4 of the 5 days and also won the 15-18 sweepstakes class (Toby & Kathy Juaert & Tiffany & Shawna Brooks & Cathie Turner).
SEPTEMBER 2010
The Golden Retriever National Specialty was in September and boy did we have a good time. Charlotte Farmer, Cindy Takek and Cathie Turner took ALlan Cooper's RV and hea
ded east. Over the mountains (very slowly) and through the woods to Greeley, Colorado - singing and laughing all the way except where there were 'concretes'.
The first day for us was Wednesday - Sweepstakes. In 6 - 9 puppy dog sweeps the wnner was Castlerock's Let It Be (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Ch. Justmoor Something About Mary) and he went on to be Best Opposite in Sweeps. He is owned by Tiffany Waite and Rosemary
Measham. Third in Sweepstakes was his brother Castlerock's Come Together shown by Debbie Ramsey showing in her first sweeps. And it was Chuck's first time in the ring. Chuck is owned by David and Debbie Ramsey and Tiffany Waite and Cathie Turner.
6 - 9 regular dog classes was WON by Chuck. How exciting was that. He was beautifully presented by Shannon Scheer from Canada.
In the 9 - 12 Sweepstakes Nick - Sunbeam Toasty Pumpernickel (Ch. Toasty's Mandalay Bay x Ch. Sunbeam Toasty Miss Gouda Two Shoes) was 2nd. Nick is owned by Cathy Kollman, Pam and Jerry Oxenberg and Cathi
e Turner.
Fourth place in 15 - 18 puppy dog sweeps was won by Kahlua Field of Dreams (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Kahlua's Gift From Heaven). Decoy is owned by Toby and Kathy Jauert, Tiffany and Shawna Brooks and Cathie Turner.
Over in the girls ring, we also had success. Harriet - Sunbeam's Let's Get This Party Started (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Karizma Sunbeam Can't Buy Me Mauve) made the cut in her 6 - 9
sweepstakes class. Tory - Sunbeam's Wallstreet Victory (Ch. Laurell Sunbeam Blue Chip Stock SDHF x Quailwood's Limited Edition) made the cut in her 8 - 10 Veteran Sweepstakes class. Third in that same class was Goldtales Drive in the Limelite JH RA (Ch. Sunbeam Played to Poofect'n x Boistano's Southern Star). Portia is owned by Claudia Shaw.
And we got a great picture of Tory, Broker and Norma Jean from the Brood Bitch class.
There were many other successes in the conformation ring but the one I will always remember was Sunbeam's Love Me Tender (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime) going around the ring with Clint Livingston, at the end of her lead, and winning an
Open Bitch class of 63 under breeder-judge Pluis Davern. What a thrill!
And not to be outdone by those "pretty dogs", there was Lexigold K-Lars Nordic Spirit. Lars is owned by Judy and Hugh Andrews of Winnepeg Canada. I met them initially at the Canadian National in 2009 and had the treat of staying with them when Judy's brother and sister-in-law (David and Debbie Ramsey) and I were in Winnepeg to choose a Hank puppy (the 6-9 puppy dog winner!). At that time we started talking to Judy about coming to Colorado so her dog could do the CCA and run in the WC and WCX tests. She was a hard sell but we prevailed.
J
udy was the first one to get her application in for the CCA so imagine our surprise when we got over for the evaluation and she was told that she was not able to participate. They had her check, it had never been returned and Judy, who had come a huge distance, was understandable devastated. I, of course always think there is a way but I was assured there was no way that her dog would be evaluated. Since one team of judges (Hatch Hatchtel, Gloria Kerr and Leslie Dickerson) had not started I went over to see if there was anyway I could entice them with wine to come over and evaluate Lars 'after the fact'. They did much better. They used Lars as their test dog and Judy was able to hear all the discussion and comments. And then someone at GRCA was gracious enough to mail those evaluations to Judy and Hugh. So, while Lars did not get his CCA, they know that he would have. So a special thank you to Leslie, Hatch and Gloria and I owe you wine.
On Sunday Lars went over to run in the WC and WCX. Here there were NO problems. He passed both in fine style.
AUGUST 2010
On August 27th, Sunbeam's Hey Good Lookin' (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Sunbeam's Wall Street Victory) was Winner's Bitch. This leaves Norma Jean only needing a major.
Sunbeam Toasty Calico Chiabatta Love Her - Sophia - won her class each day and was RWB on Monday under Doug Johnson. Decoy - Kahlua Field of Dreams (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Kahlu
a's Gift From Heaven) won his class under all the Breeder-Judges. American Bred was won each day by Ethyl - Sunbeam's High Octane (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Sunbeam's Brie For All).
On Saturday, following Best of Breed, breeder-judge Nancy Talbott did a critique of her winning dogs. We were delighted that Player (Am/Can. Ch. Sunbeam's Yor Cheatin' Heart SDHF) was chosen for Best of Breed and her critique can be seen on Player's page here.
Also in August Norma Jean's daughter Billie - UKC Ch. Soundview's Achy Breaky Heart (Can. Ch. SHR Sunbeam's Unlimited Potential JH Can WC x Can. Ch. Sunbeam's Hey Good Lookin' ) was entered in two more hunt tests and passed them both and now has her title.
July 2010
At the Ventura Dog Show Sarah, Sunbeam's Love Me Tender ( (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime) earned a major under judge Susan St. James Brown. Sarah is owned by David and Debbie Ramsey and Cathie Turner.
Nick, Sunbeam Toasty Pumpernickle (Ch. Toasty's Mandalay Bay x Ch. Sunbeam Toasty Miss Gouda Two Shoes) was Reserve Winners Dog from the 9 - 12 class on Saturday and was Winner
Dog and Best of Winners on Sunday. Way to go Nick.
Huge news from Frank and Deb Pampiks. On the 17th, Webster, Belmont First Class Edition (BIS BISS Am/Can. Ch. Sunbeam's Cruise Control x Sunbeam's Justa Twinkle In Her Eye) won Best of Breed, Group One and BEST IN SHOW presented, by Frank Pampiks. What a great win and this completed Webster's entry into the Show Dog Hall of Fame. The followiing day one might expect Webster to again win the Breed. No
On Sunday the Bre
ed and a Group One was won by Ch. Sunbeam's Attention Getter (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime). If they had not had the motorhome we think the Pampiks could have flown home. ANd let's not forget Gabby's breed win earlier in July under Jean Fournier. Great job.
On the same day Sarah, Sunbeam's Love Me Tender ( (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime) was again Winner's Bitch in Napa.
All the wins are wonderful but the two girls winning was very poignant as we lost
their father, Hawthorne, the day before. Nothing eases the pain but we are sure he is very, very proud.
And finally at the Lompoc shows Sarah was Winner's Bitch again so now she just has to wait for major shows.
And there was big news in the field as well. UKC Ch. Soundview's Achy Breaky Heart (Can. Ch. SHR Sunbeam's Unlimited Potential JH Can WC x Can. Ch. Sunbeam's Hey Good Lookin' ) passed her UKC HRC Hunt Test both days and needs just two more legs for her title.
Ju
ne 2010
This month Sunbeam Toasty Pumpernickle (Ch. Toasty's Mandalay Bay x Ch. Sunbeam Toasty Miss Gouda Two Shoes) made his show debut. He won both his Sweepstakes Class (Marjorie Blake) and his regular class (Douglas Johnson).
May 2010
On Sunday Winner's Bitch was SHR Limelite's Color Me Beautiful WC JH CGC - Mia (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Goldtale's Drive in the Limelite RA WC JH), Miawa
s shown by Shawna Brooks. Reserve Winner's Bitch was Sunbeam's Hey Good Lookin (Ch. Sunbeam's Private Party OS x Sunbeam's Wall Street Victory). And a week later Mia earned another leg on her Senior Hunter title.
Hobbs, Can. Ch. Sunbeam's Unlimited Potential (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance OS SDHF x Sunbeam Toasty Five and Dime) now adds a JH to his title. He is now to be knows as Hobbs, Can. Ch.,
SHR Sunbeam's Unlimited Potential JH, Can WC.
APRiL 2010
What an April.
Sunbeam's High Hopes - Oliver (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Sunbeam's Brie For All) was Winners Dog at the Silver State Kennel Club show under breeder judge Lei Taft.
Mia - SHR Limelite's Color Me Beautiful WC J
H CGC (Ch. Sunbeam's Double Eagle Chester x Goldtale's Drive in the Limelite RA WC JH) earned the first leg of her Senior Hunter title.
The end of the month was our local Golden Retriever Club Specialty. Our friend Frank Pampiks came down for the show and went Winner's Dog with Belmont's Time Traveler - Shadow (Ch. Sunbeam's Command Performance SDHF x Sunbeam's Justa Twinkle In Her Eye) which made his sire an Outstanding Sire.

And then Calico's The Greatest Love - Celine (BIS BISS Am/Can. Ch. Sunbeam's Cruise Control x Ch. McBear's Butterfinger Delite CGC) was Winner's Bitch. What a Specialty.
